Japanese Giant Salamander

The Japanese giant salamander is a nationally protected species. Often called ‘living fossils, these salamanders are rare nocturnal creatures that live in healthy rivers. They are characterized by their brown bodies with speckled black spots. They have a long-life span and can live for more than 10 years in the wild.

The Kajika frog is a type of green frog with a dark gray body. The female frog grows nearly twice as large as the male frog and is called the "songstress of clear streams" for its beautiful, deer-like call.
